Suicide Awareness & Prevention Training
Not only has the Coronavirus pandemic changed the ways we live, work and travel, it has also had an astounding impact on the way in which we communicate and interact with others. With guidelines and restrictions being further tightened in the Government's most recent briefing, the new rules are necessary to curb the spread of the virus, however this does not mean they are an easy ask.Tying in with National Suicide Prevention month, and Worldwide Suicide Prevention Day, SecuriGroup is taking our duty of care to our staff extremely seriously, recognising the impact current worries may be having on the mental health of our workforce, and across the wider community.
This week, SecuriGroup has created and tested our suicide awareness training programme across our e-learning platform. Built by our talented development team, with content inspired by leading charity in the sector, Samaritans, this programme is tailored to aid security professionals in the heightened pressures they, and the public, currently face. The course provides expert guidance and advice on how to deal with a range of scenarios linked to preventing suicide, educating our staff to utilise the daily impact their role can have within society.
Open to colleagues across every area of our business, this course reflects our commitment in strengthening the society in which we live, and further enhances the importance of the security role in safeguarding the public. Informed by stories from survivors, SecuriGroup is proud to support the Samaritans in their incredibly important message that any life lost to suicide is a tragedy, and look to spread their vision that fewer people die by suicide.
With 2020 being a specifically tough year for so many, SecuriGroup wants to take the opportunity to inform our staff in this month, and every month, and better equip them in aiding in the prevention of suicide. The new course is due to be reviewed by SecuriGroup's Training Committee in the coming weeks, with an imminent release date to follow. Through continuous support to our colleagues and their families, we look forward to a positive future, exiting the pandemic even stronger than how we entered.
