Malcolm Group and SecuriGroup: Leading the Way in Safety. Malcolm Group is the first in Scotland to Receive Park Mark Freight Safety Award.

Our valued client of 8 years; Malcolm Group has been recognised by Park Mark – The Safer Parking Schemewho commented that Newhouse Freight Parking Facility has demonstrated the highest standards across its operations.

The Park Mark Freight assessment is a new initiative by the Police Crime Prevention Initiatives and the British Parking Association that aims to improve the quality and safety of lorry parks and facilities. It builds on the existing Safer Parking Scheme's Park Mark® Award by introducing criteria specific to the freight industry. The assessment requires lorry parks to demonstrate low crime rates, strong security measures, good management, and excellent customer service. Facilities are assessed annually to ensure high standards are maintained.

Derek Milne- Security Manager and Health and Safety Advisor, Malcolm Logistics said: "I am immensely proud that Malcolm Logistics has successfully been awarded this certificate. It not only enhances our reputation within the logistics sector but shows the commitment to ensuring our customers' products and businesses are secure while in Malcolm Logistics' control. Our partnership with SecuriGroup has proved extremely successful in providing a secure and safe working environment."

Russel Kerr– Managing Director, SecuriGroup said, "SecuriGroup is delighted to have supported its valued client Malcolm Group, to achieve this important security accreditation. We are proud of the 8-year partnership, which has seen significant investments in cutting-edge security technology across Malcolm Group's UK-wide distribution network."

William Clark, BPA Area Manager Scotland, Northern Ireland and North England said: "Following a comprehensive audit by Police Scotland and the British Parking Association, I am delighted Malcolm Logistics has achieved the Park Mark Freight award, a first for Scotland. Congratulations on achieving this accreditation which recognises the team's commitment and their partnership with Securigroup to raising standards within the sector and also demonstrates to current and future customers the high standards achieved in all aspects of this facility."

Allen Paul, Design Out Crime Officer, Police Scotland said "Police Scotland is a key partner within the Scottish Partnership Against Acquisitive Crimes (SPAACE) and together with our other SPAACE partners, we are committed to working to reduce the variety of acquisitive crime offences that cost the commercial sector millions of pounds each year and create a demand on frontline policing resources. To be awarded a Park Mark Freight Award, companies must meet a number of criteria aimed at reducing cargo crime and enhancing the security measures they have in place on-site. The Malcolm Group, and their partners in SecuriGroup, are the first site in Scotland to receive this award and they should be commended for their outstanding efforts."

DCI Brett Mallon – Head of Unit at the National Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service (NaVCIS) said "The UK Freight sector is targeted by organised criminals stealing cargo and fuel. The impact on the UK economy runs to hundreds of millions of pounds and ultimately we all pay these costs through higher prices. Both the Government and Policing take this very seriously and are helping to improve infrastructure and security at Lorry Parks and also through Policing operations that are catching the criminals involved. It has long been thought through our Policing and Industry Partners, that the UK needs to adopt a Secure Truck Parking Standard that is robust enough to defeat serious and organised criminality rather than to deter your Opportunist cargo thief. Lorry Parks and Truck stops that achieve a high standard of security and are awarded the Park Mark Freight accreditation are Annually assessed by Police Crime Prevention Officers. The Park Mark Freight initiative is an excellent initiative to help combat UK Cargo Crime and it is particularly pleasing to hear that the scheme has been adopted in Scotland and that the first Park Mark Freight award has been awarded in Scotland.
